In addition to searching and rescuing people lost, injured or deceased, Aguilas also works to save lives through our prevention and public awareness and information campaign.
Aguilas members have visited many migrant centers throughout Mexico to inform and educate migrants who are thinking of crossing the border about the many real, and life-threating, dangers they will encounter.
We have published and distributed brochures, posters, and flyers that warn of the life-threatening risks migrants will face trying to cross the border. Dangers that are often not communicated to the young and vulnerable who are thinking of crossing.
Aguilas is planning a larger campaign to reach as many of the 65 migrant centers in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras, giving presentations, talking to migrants, and raising awareness.
If it prevents even one death all our efforts are worth it. Since January 1, 2020, Aguilas has saved 45 lives, and recovered the remains of 26 migrants, for a total of 71 persons.
